Tameka Wright
Neurodevelopmental Practitioner
Meet Tameka Wright, an Assistant Psychologist with a BSc in Psychology (First Class Honours) from Royal Holloway University of London. Tameka’s practice is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centred approaches, supported by a strong foundation developed across clinical, community, and educational settings. She has also completed professional training in safeguarding, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
Tameka has extensive experience supporting children, young people, and adults from diverse backgrounds, including refugees, asylum seekers, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those facing mental health and social-emotional challenges. In her role as an Advocacy Caseworker, she conducted holistic assessments, developed personalised support plans, managed safeguarding concerns, and provided both practical and emotional support to individuals with complex needs, including trauma histories, chronic health conditions, and barriers linked to language or immigration status.
In addition, Tameka has worked within psychiatric liaison and crisis assessment settings, contributing to multidisciplinary assessments involving risk formulation, acute mental health presentations, and crisis de-escalation. This experience has strengthened her skills in psychological formulation, capacity assessment, and collaborative clinical decision-making.
Tameka has also worked as a Mentor, providing structured 1:1 wellbeing and academic support to young adults experiencing anxiety, low confidence, and social isolation. Using elements of cognitive behavioural approaches and motivational interviewing, she supported individuals in developing coping strategies, building resilience, and achieving personal goals.
Alongside this, Tameka has volunteered as a Special Educational Needs Support Assistant, offering tailored 1:1 support for children with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and social-emotional or behavioural needs. This role enhanced her ability to adapt communication styles, build trusting relationships, and create structured environments that support both emotional regulation and learning.
Combining her academic background with practical experience, Tameka is committed to delivering personalised, compassionate care and fostering supportive environments that promote psychological wellbeing and personal development.
